About me

Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2007, Pilar Policano, began playing the violin at the age of six. In 2022 she moved to Vienna with her family to continue her violin studies at the pre-college of the Kunst-Universität Graz.

From 2019 to 2022, she was under the tutelage of maestro  Rafael Gíntoli.

Winner of the Grand Prix at the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition (Omsk), first place in the Junior category of the  International Violino Competition, St. Petersburg, a prize awarded by unanimous decision of the jury, and first prize at the “Nouvelles Etoiles International Competition” in París 2022, she has obtained numerous prizes in competitions in Argentina, the United States , France, Romania, Slovenia, Russia, Croatia, Mexico and Estonia.

In addition, in 2022 she received the "Revelation Solo Artist" award from National Classical Radio (Argentina) and the Association of Music Critics of Argentina award.

Pilar has performed as a soloist at several distinguished music halls worldwide, such as the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the CCK, the San Martín Theatre and the Coliseum in Buenos Aires, The Kolarak Hall in Belgrad, and with several important orchestras, among others, the Radio and TV Serbian Orchestra, the Pitesti Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), the Artima Paris Orchestra (France) and in Argentina, with Philarmonic of Buenos Aires, the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra, Stable Orchestra of the Argentine Theater, Argentine Youth National Symphony Orchestra, the Salta Symphony Orchestra, Bahia Blanca Symphony Orchestra, Neuquén Symphony Orchestra and Paraná Symphony Orchestra,  in addition to numerous recitals.

In april 2023 Pilar was invited to perform for the  Pope Francis  in his visit to Hungary and in 2022, she has made her first two singles  recordings  for Waves Affaire Music Austria.

In addition to the numerous concerts, Pilar generated by hosting various activities with children and young people, bringing the little ones closer to music and spreading their love for the violin.

Pilar has participated in several festivals and summer programs such as “Festival 7 Lagos”, in Argentina (2020), the International Festival “Moscow Meets Friends” Moscow, Russia (2021), "the Morningside Music Bridge" at the New England  Conservatory, Boston (USA) (2022) and since 2023 she is student of the „Perlman Music Program Summer School“  where she is a student of Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin.

She received Masterclasses from international artist and professors such as Daniel Strabawa, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Catherine Cho, Pavel Berman, Midori, Williams Van Deer Sloot,  Ray Chen, Tadeusz Gadzina Nicolas Datricourt, Roberto Gonzalez – Monjas, Stefan Jackiw and  Xavier Inchausti.

Pilar is supported by Mozarteum Argentino since 2021.  In 2022 Pilar received the Teresa Grüneisen Scholarship, being the youngest scholarship holder in the history of the Institution and currently is holder of the Georg and Ferdinand Porak Scholarship .

She also received scholarships from the National Endowment for the Arts 2019 and Stuart Holland Memorial Award 2022.

Se is currently playing on a fine Horacio Piñeiro New York 2013 “Lord Wilton”  and a  “Eugene Sartory” bow, both on generous loan and she has the support of Wolff Violins Viena.
