Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2007, Pilar began playing the violin at the age of six. In 2022 she moved to Vienna with her family to continue her violin studies with outstanding professor Boris Kuschnir at the Musik und Künst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien and at the Kunst-Universität Graz. In Argentina she was under the tutelage of maestro Rafael Gintoli.

​​​Winner of the "Arthur-Waser Award 2025", 1st prize Ilona Fehér Int. Violin Competition 2026, the Grand Prix at the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition, first place in the Junior category of the International Violino Competition, St. Petersburg,  absolute winner in the Dinu Lippatti 2025 Competition and first prize at the “Nouvelles Etoiles International Competition” in París 2022, Pilar Policano has obtained numerous prizes in competitions in Argentina, the United States , France,  Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain, Slovenia, Russia, Croatia, Mexico and Estonia.
 

Highly regarded in her home country, she has been recognized as "Revelation Solo Artist" from National Classical Radio in 2022 and in 2026 she received the „Best Argentinian Soloist Award“ from the Association of Music Critics of Argentina.

 

Pilar has already performed in prestigious concert halls including KKL Luzern, Philarmonie Luxembourg, die Glocke Bremen, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Victoria Hall Geneve, Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, Palais Ehrbar Saal Vienna, Minas Gerais Hall, Liszt Academy Budapest, the CCK, the Coliseum in Buenos Aires, The Kolarak Hall in Belgrad, receiving great enthusiasm from the audience.

She has also appeared as a soloist with several important orchestras, among others, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Minas Gerais Philarmonic, Orchestre du  Chambre  du Luxembourg, Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, Valencia Symphonic, Teatro Petruzzelli Orchestra, Colombia Symphony, the Radio and TV Serbian Orchestra, Orchester & Chor der Universität Bremen, Elblaska Orkiestra Kameralna, the Pitesti Philharmonic Orchestra and in Argentina, with Philarmonic of Buenos Aires, the Argentine National Symphony  and with most Argentine orchestras.

In april 2023 Pilar was invited to perform for the Pope Francis in his visit to Hungary.

Pilar has appeared at festivals including Vaduz Music Festival (Liechtenstein), Engadin Festival (Swizzerland), the „Perlman Music Program“ (USA), Osawa Academie (Geneva, Swiss), "the Morningside Music Bridge", Boston (USA), the Liechtenstein Music Academy, the International Festival “Moscow Meets Friends” Moscow, Russia and “Festival 7 Lagos”, in Argentina. Her development has been enriched by masterclasses with renowned artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Mihaela Martin and Vadim Gluzman.

In addition to the numerous concerts, Pilar generated by hosting various activities with children and young people, bringing the little ones closer to music and spreading their love for the violin.

 

Pilar is a laureate 2026 of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon.  

She has received support from Mozarteum Argentino since 2021 including the Teresa Grüneisen Scholarship 2022 and 2023, being the youngest scholarship holder in the history of the Institution, from the National Endowment for the Arts 2019, Stuart Holland Memorial Award 2022, the Georg and Ferdinand Porak Scholarship 2023 and the Arcadi Fomin Scholarship Fund 2025.

Pilar performs on a fine Violin N. Bergonzi, Cremona c1780-85, with a violin bow by Dominique Peccatte, Mirecourt c1850 generously loaned by the Ryuji Ueno Foundation and Rare Violins in Consortium, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative Collaborative and since 2026 she is Gewa Strings Artist.
